The above comparison chart covers the technical difference between the two blenders.

In short, both devices offer a warranty. Vitamix offer you a full 7 year warranty, meaning that should anything go wrong during this period, they will replace the faulty part (includes every item in the box) and your warranty is not effected. They will also cover the shipping.

Ninja on the other hand only offer a limited 1 year warranty period that does not cover everything in the box. Sadly, they won’t cover the shipping costs either.

In operation, the Ninja will consume a little more power and is safe to place the 72 ounce pitcher, directly into the dishwasher after use. It’s not recommended that you place the Vitamix’s provided pitcher into dishwasher as it’s made of glass.

Cleaning the pitcher of either device outside of the dishwasher is a breeze. All you need do is fill the pitcher a quarter full of water and add a little detergent. Set the blender to Pulse action for a couple of seconds for a thorough clean.

Bother devices are BPA free and come with a range of operational settings. Both devices offer a pulse feature and manual speed settings. The Ninja offers 4 pre-set speeds whereas the Vitamix offers a little more flexibility in that you can manually tune your desired speed – as you would a dimmer switch to adjust the brightness of your room. Due to the high performance motor in each device, the Ninja and Vitamix are equally as loud in use.

The Build Quality and Price

It’s clear that the biggest difference between the two competing devices is the price. While the cost of the Ninja is a lot less than the Vitamix, it’s important to understand why.

vitamix-blender-base The first noteworthy point to make about the Vitamix is that it is manufactured in the USA and supports local jobs. The two horse power motor is strong enough to break down the toughest of ingredients, and due to its excellent blade design, the Vitamix is capable of breaking down the smallest of ingredients such as flax seeds.

The vast majority of the parts that go into the Vitamix are made from steel (including all the gears and couplings), which makes the unit extremely durable. The blades of the Vitamix are connected to a sturdy steel core, meaning there is no chance of anything breaking off during operation. Attaching the pitcher to the base is simple as you can pop it on at any angle. The improved durability of the blender means that it’s sticking around for the long run and is why Vitamix are confident in offering an extended warranty period.

ninja blender base The Ninja Professional blender is manufactured in China and uses lower quality parts – when compared to the Vitamix’s build. The Ninja also boasts a two horse power motor, tho, unlike the Vitamix – many of its parts are made from plastic, meaning that they are more susceptible to wear and tear over time. There have been reports of small plastic pieces breaking off during operation – due to the blades being connected to a plastic core.

Attaching the pitcher to the base of the unit can take a little practice as you need to awkwardly line it up for it to lock into position. The Ninja mixer claims to have six speeds, but the keypad only has four buttons. Two of these options are for pulse and the single serve attachment. The high and low settings are not a variable setting – but exactly that. The Ninja stands a little taller than the Vitamix so it can accommodate its unique powerful blade system.

On the other hand, the unit is of a sturdy build. Like the commercials say – the Ninja contains an incredibly sharp and unique three tier blade system capable of crushing ice and pulverising fruits and vegetables. The suction caps located on the bottom of the unit are a handy little feature, which keeps the unit firmly in place during operation.

If you are like me and think you’ll use your blender most days – the Vitamix will be your best option. If you don’t think you’ll use your blender too often or are perhaps new to blending and looking to get your feet wet – the Ninja Professional is a great option at an entry level price.

The Most Important Part – The End Product

blender results

Technical stuff aside, it’s now time to see how both blenders perform. To begin, it’s important to note that no matter which blender you decide to go with, you are going to be able to produce tasty soups, broths and shakes that you can have on the go that are packed full of nutrition – capable of boosting your immune system and overall health. Taking on a blended diet is also an effective and proven weight loss method (when combined with regular exercise).

How healthy and tasty you make your meal all depends on what ingredients you decide to place into your pitcher – and the best thing is that you have full control. When compared with off the shelf products, you won’t find added sugar, fats or artificial flavours and colouring – unless you decided to add them! Now, on to the Vitamix Blender vs Ninja Blender results..

When it comes to creating a hot soup, neither device contains a heating element, but relies on the heat of the motor to warm the contents. In a side by side test, the Vitamix offers a warmer, creamier substance that is thoroughly broken down. The Ninja on the other hand offer a luke warm substance that contains small traces of fibre throughout – or a little less broken down in other words. This can be good if you prefer more texture to your soups like I do.

My Blender of Choice

In this Vitamix vs Ninja showdown, myself and others tend to favour the Vitamix. The Vitamix is of a sturdier build with its inner parts made from steel and is manufactured in the USA. The overall performance of the unit leaves you with a smooth consistent texture when compared to the Ninja.

The unit performed better in all independent consumer tests and comes with a generous seven year warranty. The Vitamix is a little more expensive – but well worth the investment. This unit will last the test of time and provide you with restaurant grade quality, every time.

Where’s the best place to pick one of these up, you say?

vitamix blender Whether you have been inspired by Joe Cross’s popular documentary, plan to lose a little weight or simply want to introduce more fruit and vegetables into your diet, the Ninja and Vitamix blenders are up to the task. Both blenders are capable of producing nutrition packed shakes that can literally change your life.

If you find that the Vitamix is a little out of your price range and are not quite sold on the Ninja, I have provided some alternatives that may fit your needs. For an in-depth comparison on the Nutribullet system, be sure to see our nutribullet vs ninja review. Some of the below blenders are on-line only deals and others can be found in store at a higher price. Your best bet would be to purchase on-line though a reputable provider such Amazon (links above), as you can see their stock levels, they provide fast delivery and offer a decent refund policy – but I’ll leave that choice up to you.

Amazon now offer a wide range of refurbished vitamix blenders. All refurbished models go through a tough check list and ship with new accessories. Be sure to see our review for more information.
